Storytime with Ms. Kate

  • Cost at time of registration: $15 per class
  • When: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, starting July 5th and ending August 25th
  • Time: Session 1 (9:15-10:00), Session 2 (10:15-11:00)
  • Who: Ages 2 and 3

Come experience the magic of the library with your 2 and 3 year old at Storytime! You will have the opportunity to aid your child in practicing developmentally appropriate skills through fine motor activities, socialization, music, and books. You and your child will learn about a new author each week and participate in a crafts that coincide with the book of the day. This program is also a great way to immerse yourself in the Fire Island community by meeting other families and participating in our “field trips” for read alouds around town!

Book Bingo

  • Cost at time of registration: $15 per class
  • When: Mondays from 7:00-7:45pm, starting July 10th and ending August 28th
  • Who: Best for ages 4-12

Don’t miss this Monday night Saltaire tradition! Kids of all ages will love our weekly Book Bingo program. Each week, we will play three rounds of Bingo where children will have the opportunity to win a brand new book.

STEM and Stories

  • Cost at time of registration: $20 per class
  • When: Thursdays at 1:00pm, starting July 6th and ending August 24th
  • Who: Ages 7, 8, and 9

Your 7, 8, or 9 year olds will love exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through literature with Ms. Maddie! Every Thursday, Ms. Maddie will read a dynamic book that will lead to further exploration of STEM elements through hands-on activities, games, crafts, and/or experiments.

Kids' Book Club

  • No registration required
  • When: Tuesdays at 4:30pm, starting July 11th and ending August 22nd
  • Who: Best for ages 6-12

Keep your child reading this summer with a little extra motivation from the library’s book club! Every Tuesday, we will meet to share what we are reading, participate in activities that promote a love for reading, and distribute prizes for the total hours read. This program is differentiated for children ages 6-12 by having children read their own individual books that they keep track of in a reading log.

Bedtime with Books

  • Cost: Free, but registration is required
  • When: Wednesday, July 19th and Wednesday, August 9th at 6:30pm
  • Who: Families

Put on your best pajamas and come on down to the library for a book before bedtime! Children will rotate between our volunteer readers to listen to a variety of stories before bedtime. Snacks will be provided. Teen and adult volunteers needed for this event! Volunteer readers please arrive at 5:30pm.
